64.99

Knitting Yarn SwiftI've always wanted one of these.  Wanted but not needed. If you could see my yarn piles you'd tell me that I need one.  My husband would say that I've needed one a looong time but come on....64.99?  Some are even more.  Much more.  My wallet doesn't know that kind of dollar amount.  Its not how I roll.

But Salvation Army on a half-price day?  Now we're talking my language.  I can do half-price.  Most of the time I can do SA on a full price day.  But isn't half-price much nicer?  Brand new. Who throws away something this expensive? In the package still. Made in Italy.  Knit Picks brand.  Exactly like the one above.  1.50!!!  Happy thrifting~

One Year

The chicks are one year old this month.  They are huge compared to these pictures.  We have five out of six left.  We lost one to a hawk.  So sad.  We get five eggs a day.  Eggs are aqua, olive green, brown, brown w/ spots and beige.  All different and all so pretty.  Yummy too.  I love their personalities, the way they waddle and run.

Swapping

Doing a bit of swapping.  About February, I started feeling itchy for something creative to do.  I hadn't used Swap-Bot for a few years but luckily I remembered my password and started up again.  Doodling, letter writing and paper related swaps seem to be my interest at the moment.
Its more about creating and if I get something cool back, then that's a bonus.  The swap themes just help me to focus my energy rather than not knowing where to start.  To meet this swaps requirements, you just had to make sure there was an owl on the envelope.  They ask that you not just slap a sticker on the envelope and call it good.  Phhffff....as if.

My swap partner lives in Finland.  I loved reading her profile and finding some things we had in common.  Makes the swapping easier and more fun too.  I hope this makes her smile when she opens the mailbox.

Joe is my Dad.

CATARINO (sounds like kahtahrrrreeno)

My dads name.

My mom called him Cata (kahtah) and his army buddies called him Cat. (CAT!)
At some point he just started writing his name as Joseph/Joe and that's what most of his paperwork goes by now. Old days you just changed what you didn't want to use anymore. No need for officials forms of change or getting it okayed.

Dad story: my dad was an alcoholic for a lot of years (I never knew him that way) and he got in trouble while in the military. He had a piece of paper he was suppose to take over to the people that were going to issue his disciplinary action. The paper stated what he had done wrong and was from the person that wrote him up for being bad. He ran into a buddy on the way over to the office he was supposed to go to and he convinced my dad to sit down for a drink. My dad told him what he was up to and where he was headed…the guy just told my dad not to take the paper to the office and he wouldn't get in trouble. My dad was like….what?!....and didn't take it. My dad said he never got in trouble and no one ever came looking for him. Paper trail was gone and nothing to show for his mis-deeds. Funny how its all so different now with the invention of computers.

Good Friday

I'll never know how much pain Christ endured for us all. My sin alone caused him more pain than I would ever be able to endure. I hate pain and I'm always careful not to do something that will hurt me.

The scripture if pretty descriptive of the torture Christ went through and experts have expanded on what he probably went through. Detailed descriptions that I can't even wrap my brain around.
-Did Jesus have any blood left when he died?
It haunts me that he may have given every last drop of blood for us all. To suffer so long that he didn't have a drop of blood left in him. I can't even stand the pain associated with a cut that produces a few drops of blood.

"About noon the sky turned dark and stayed that way until around three o'clock. Then about that time Jesus shouted "Eloi, Eloi, lema sabachthan? which means, 'My God, my God, why have you deserted me?' ...Jesus shouted and then died." Mark 15:33-34, 37

Jesus chose to come down to earth and sacrifice himself for you and for me. To die on the cross and be separated from God. I have the gift of a relationship with God because of Jesus. "For God so loved the world that he gave his only begotten son, that whosoever believeth in him, should not perish but have everlasting life." John 3:16

I believe.

Three

Just got through reading this trilogy. For Christmas, my son and his girlfriend bought this set for my daughter. Her younger brother has already read them all. She had only read the first one and was so excited to have them all. I didn't plan to read them but I did end up reading them. Maybe in less than a week. My kids think I'm a fast reader but I don't think so. I just get so caught up in a good book that I can't seem to put it down.

Reading on my way to and from work. I take the MAX so it gives me an hour each way. Standing on the train or sitting, I'm hooked and can't put them down. Haunted and unable to sleep, after I read in bed. Hard to imagine a life as described. They're just books but I did cry at the end of three. I'm glad I'm through though. I'm glad there's not four or five. Just read that there's a movie coming this March. The book is pretty graphic. I'm not sure of it as a movie.

Week end 4:

+cleaning and organizing. Two bags to Goodwill, one bag of trash and a pile to free table at work
+plastic storage bin back to church. I had it at least two years, waiting for me to take back
