Changed Plans~

The plans for the weekend were camping and outdoors. Well since we have five new family members, going off for the weekend wasn't an option. Who would care for the wee babes? So plan B has been really relaxing.

The family biked to the Farmer's Market and purchased fresh asparagus. We bar- b - qued it on the grill last night. Yum. Also purchased fresh sugar peas and added them to a pea salad which we also consumed last night.

Loved looking at all the flowers. Can one ever get tired of all the gorgeous flowers? I think not. We didn't buy any flowers but we did buy two cherry tomatoes plants. Planted them next to the Walla Walla onions.

Met up with this little cutie. She exhibits the spirit of the Farmer's Market and the anticipation of Summer. Also listened to the talented man below. He had at least 5 instruments that he took turns playing and he has a wonderful voice.
Also took time to enjoy this awesome rose bush. It was pink, yellow, peach, orangey and absolutely beautiful. What an enjoyable plan B.

Maya: I wouldn't eat cow again.

Me: What about pig? (I'm still the evil mother)

Maya: I'm defnitely eating pig.

Not Quite a Quack~~

Sad story. The man was out paying bills and saw a mommy duck cross the street at a bad time and was hit by a car. Twice. She flew away. Don't know if she made it or not. Don't know if she was able to come back to look for her ducklings. I like to think she is okay and just sad she can't find her ducklings.
Happy ending-mostly. My man grabbed three before they fell in the drain. Four others went down the drain. Firemen appeared. Someone had called that puppies had gone down a drain so they were out to rescue them. Isn't that great that they went on a call to rescue little puppies?

Anyways, they were able to get two of the four ducklings that went down the drain. Sad but the two most likely won't make it. We brought home the five and now have five additions to our household. My daughter's class just hatched duckling eggs for science so we called her teacher and she told us to come by and she gave us all their supplies. The teacher thinks they're only a day old because they still have the little point on their beaks for cracking through their egg shells.

I don't know if our household is the best place for them but we are going to try. Daughter's teacher said they'd take them if we couldn't keep them. Good to know.

They make lots of noise and don't stay still. Taking pictures was a challenge. Isn't the top picture of the feet so adorable?

I Won~~

Look what I won at SewMamSew blog. I've bought fabric from her before and found out there's a blog and through the blog they give away fabric on Fridays!! Yeah. She's out of Beaverton and has beautiful fabrics. Her site is full of lovely materials. I picked the brown with the turquoise and I'll get one yard of it.
I never win and finally I won. Oh what a wonderful prize~~~

Breakfast~

The condiments are ready: lime wedges, chopped onion, chopped cilantro.
Her bowl-left, His bowl-right. He'll have two of these. Also eaten with flour or corn tortillas rolled up. I put butter on my tortilla, he rubs lime and sprinkles salt on his tortilla.
A little onion, a little cilantro, squeeze on some lime and the menudo is ready to eat. What's menudo you say? Don't ask. It's a cultural thing and we were raised on it. Mostly a weekend meal since the making is so involved but we like the kind in a can so it's easy peasy for me. Why am I filming our breakfast you say? I just liked the colors.

Re-Use~

We went to several garage sales last weekend and found treasures. Part of the fun day was the driving through the back roads. It was a beautiful Saturday and I do love driving around the Oregon back roads. So peaceful~~
Bowl .25, hand painted pitcher 1.oo, all this fabric 1.oo
All these were free. Sometimes there's a free box as you enter a garage sale: two coffee cups, tin stein, frog for flower arrangements, three brand new packages of paper flower embellishments. The red table cloth was .25.
Green table clothe, off white table cloth, embroidered doiley thing- .25 each. Old steel paper sorter- 2.00, vintage queen size sheets w/ two pillow cases- 2.35. I bought these because it has a tree design with different greens. Bought them to do crafts. Maybe something like this but I was thinking totes or quilts.

Belgium green glass canisters .50 for all three. And my favorite purchase, this turquoise and green table cloth for .25. The glass ball was free.

Worth It~~

We hardly put our children in organized sports because frankly, it's just too expensive. I remember the good old days of soccer, football, tennis, swim team, flag girls, cheer, band and drill team all free for the signing up, through school. No NEED for organized sports outside of school. Sure there were organized sports outside of school back then but it was for those who really wanted more beyond school teams. Now there's no more music, sports or any sort of club without having to pay at least fifty to a hundred dollars just to get your name on a piece of paper.
He's on the red team. See him with his team mates? He's the one with the team shirt on his head. Do you think he was trying to get a rally going? You know...team spirit?
His coach doesn't know what to think of this. What do you say to a boy who's obviously soooooo into the game that's taking place? Notice he's changed the style of his team shirt?
Well when the opportunity to sign up Ben for kickball came at 10.00, well I couldn't pass it up. Thru the Boys & Girls Club of Hillsboro, we paid 5.00 for his yearly membership and 5.00 for kickball. This is a price we could afford and if he didn't like kickball then there was no financial pain involved. This child is the one who refused to be a lamb in the Christmas play at preschool because 'I'm a boy, not a lamb'. He's the one who has at least 10 reasons to have a melt down at the slightest provocation so I didn't really know how this would go over.
Here he is 'pretending' he isn't paying attention so the other team will try and pull a fast one on him. This is in the middle of an active game. Again a new look with the shirt.
Action shot. It says, "I'm ready, I'm on top of it, I'm watching you, I'm the one you have to watch out for." And now for the grand finale below.......
Let me just say it is so worth the 10.00. You can't put a price on this kind of entertainment. Happy Mother's Day to all you moms, moms to be, trying to be a moms, honorary aunties to my kids, friends and family.

Day Dreamin~~

It's day and I'm dreamin.

- When I get home the grocery fairy will have delivered all my grocery needs and put them all away after cleaning out the refrigerator, freezer and pantry.

- My boss is sending me home early so I can garden and plant my flowers that need to go in the ground.

- Tonight my two young ones will not bicker all night, take showers without any dramatics, go to bed without any fussin, fall asleep the moment their heads hit the pillow and I will have time to craft for one hour before I go to bed at 9:00.

- Dinner will be healthy, delicious and ready for me when I walk in the door.

- When I organize my bills tonight and get ready for bill paying, all the balances will say zero due and owed.

Isn't my life dreamy?
